becoming ruth
The story of Ruth the Moabitess is a parable of 'becoming,' and for generations has been the summation of her profound declaration: ‘Where you go, I will go; wherever you live, I will live. Your people will be my people, and your God will be my God.’
Her life, a woman at the cusp of becoming and in search of herself, became the candid example of love, loyalty, kindness, and most of all, friendship – the very essence of her name.

In a personal way, Ruth's Lineage also represents my Grandmother, Ruth Reid. Born at the height of segregation in the South, my Grandmother was an audacious trailblazer, who kept her ‘heels, head and standards high.’ As one of the first black RN’s in Atlanta, she embraced leadership. A woman before her time, she represented influence amongst women, perpetuating sisterhood, love, strength, wit, and sophistication. My Beecher Street, brown skinned Coco Chanel, left a legacy that a ‘girl should be who and what she wants to be' - defined by no one.
